About Library

A Profile of GDC Mancherial:

 

The Government Degree College Mancherial was established in 1967 in Mancherial. The college was affiliated to Kakatiya University, Warangal, accredited by NAAC B Grade and Recognized by UGC. The College has 15 acres of land, 14 Class-rooms, 04 Science labs, and a fully equipped Library with 16 Computers, Physical Education Room, 2 Computer Lab with 45 computers, a well equipped TSKC Lab with 30 systems and 05 Staff Rooms with 24 hour internet facility and headphones, a Gym, a Seminar Hall with LCD and Virtual Class facilities, and an Audio equipment.

Courses Offered:  The College has offering the under-graduate (UG & PG) and Post-Graduate courses in both Telugu and English media.

Teaching Staff: The College has Arts, Commerce and Sciences faculty members, Seventeen one (17) departments, The College has One (01) Regular Principal Eight (08) regular lecturers in supported by 05 contract faculty and 04 guest faculties. Out of the 09 lecturers 04 are doctorates and 3 are M.Phil. holders.

College Library – A Profile: The library is built in 2250 sft., separate Block with rich collection of books and reference resources, and seating capacity of library is 30. The library Books has 5,259 and also the rich reference resources such as encyclopedias, periodicals, reference books, national journals and international journals, hand books, rare volumes and CD-ROMs; and Departmental Library facilities are available in the college.

Library Staff: Staff members are 02 (Two) including the librarian.

Issue of the books to the borrowers: The books are borrowed by Faculty members, Students and Non-Teaching Staff.  The list is as follows.

4.6. The Govt. Degree College, Mancherial – A Profile

The GDC, Mancherial was established in 1967.  The college is affiliated to Kakatiya University, Warangal, accredited by NAAC, and recognized by the UGC. The College campus has 24.5 acres of land; it offers 6 UG and 2 PG Courses.  The college has 15 Class-Rooms, Laboratories, a resourceful Library, Physical Education Room, Computer Labs, a well equipped JKC Lab with internet facility and headphones, a Cooperative Store, a Gym, a Seminar Hall with LCD and OHP facilities.

 

4.6.1. Courses Offered:

The College has offering the under-graduate (UG & PG) and Post-Graduate) courses in both Telugu and English media.( see the Appendix-IV)

     

4.6.2. Teaching Staff:

The College has Arts, Commerce and Sciences faculty members, thirteen (13) departments, divided into - 6 in Arts, 6 in Sciences and 01 in Commerce.  The college has 18 permanent lecturers supported by 6 contract faculty and 4 guest faculties.

4.6.3. College Library – A Profile:

The library has in main building with collection of books and reference resources and seating capacity of library is 60. The library has 17,232 books and also the reference resources such as encyclopedias’, periodicals, reference books, National journals, hand books, rare volumes and CD-ROMs and  Departmental Libraries are available in the college.

4.6.4. Library Staff: The library staff members are 3 (Three) including the librarian.

 

4.2 Library as a Learning Resource

4.2.1 Library is automated using Integrated Library Management System (ILMS)

Response:

The college has a spacious central library facility for the UG and PG students. It is fully automated and it is going to adopt bar code system very soon. The library has a well lit and ventilated reading cum stack room. It has 5688 text books, 1359 reference books, 14 CD/DVDs and 15 journals are newly added. The library possesses the digital databases such as N-List Inflibnet, and Shodhganga.

The Library is a rich repository of knowledge which is automated with NewZenLib (NGL Core Engine Version 3.1.1 Discover) - open software and is also equipped with online public access catalogue (OPAC). Library Details:
